Paprika Chicken

Here’s a flavorful recipe for Paprika Chicken that is easy to prepare and sure to impress!

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 2 tablespoons paprika (smoked or sweet, depending on your preference)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or sour cream for a lighter option)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • In a small bowl, mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
    • Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated.
  2. Sear the Chicken:

    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Onions and Garlic:

    • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  4. Make the Sauce:

    • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
    • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream (or sour cream). Mix well until combined.
  5. Cook the Chicken:

    • Return the seared chicken to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top.
    • Cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
  6. Serve:

    • Once cooked, remove the skillet from heat. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
    • Serve the paprika chicken with the creamy sauce over rice, pasta, or alongside vegetables.
