Here’s a simple and quick recipe for a Microwave Cake that you can make in just a few minutes! This single-serving cake is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without the need for baking in the oven.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for chocolate cake) or omit for vanilla cake
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles for added flavor

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a microwave-safe mug or bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder (if using), baking powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:

    • Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and well combined. If desired, fold in chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles.
  3. Microwave:

    • Microwave the mug or bowl on high for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage, so start checking at 1 minute. The cake should rise and look set in the center.
  4. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the cake to cool for a minute before enjoying. You can eat it straight from the mug or transfer it to a plate. Optionally, top with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Tips:

  • For a vanilla version, simply omit the cocoa powder and consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest for extra flavor.
  • Be careful not to overcook the cake, as it can become dry. Adjust the cooking time based on your microwave’s power.
