Healthy Chinese Ground Beef & Cabbage Stir Fry Stack

Here’s a healthy recipe for Chinese Ground Beef & Cabbage Stir Fry Stack that is both nutritious and delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (preferably lean)
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned or shredded
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Wash and chop all vegetables. Have them ready to go, as stir-frying is a quick process.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef:

    • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add Aromatics:

    • Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet with the ground beef. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add Vegetables:

    • Add the shredded cabbage, carrots, and bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Season the Stir Fry:

    • Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve:

    • To create a “stack,” you can layer the stir-fry mixture on a plate or in a bowl. Start with a base of the stir-fried cabbage and beef mixture, and then add more on top to create a stack effect.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
