Here’s a classic Pound Cake recipe that is rich, buttery, and perfect for any occasion. This cake is simple to make and can be enjoyed on its own or with various toppings!

Classic Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk (optional, for added moisture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or a bundt pan.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:

    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs:

    • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Combine Mixtures:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk (if using). Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Add Vanilla:

    • Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour into Pan:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf or bundt pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, you can cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
  9. Cool:

    • Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Serve:

    • Slice and serve your classic pound cake plain, or with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a drizzle of glaze.

Tips

  • Storage: Store the pound cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Variations: You can add lemon zest, almond extract, or chocolate chips for different flavor variations.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Classic Pound Cake! It’s a timeless treat that everyone will love.
