Apple Pie Bread

Here’s a delightful recipe for Apple Pie Bread that combines the flavors of classic apple pie with a moist, sweet bread. This is perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a snack!

Ingredients:

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)

For the Topping:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Set aside.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar:

    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the Apples:

    • Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Prepare the Topping:

    • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using).
  8. Assemble the Bread:

    • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the topping mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the remaining topping mixture.
  9. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, you can cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
