Here’s a delicious recipe for a classic apple cake that is moist, flavorful, and perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 3-4 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)

For the Topping (optional):

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or a bundt pan.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Mix until just combined.

  6. Fold in Apples and Nuts: Gently fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

  7. Prepare Topping (Optional): In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the batter in the pan.

  8. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream.

Enjoy!

This apple cake is perfect for dessert, a snack, or even breakfast. Enjoy the warm, comforting flavors of apples and cinnamon!
