Here’s a delicious recipe for a Chicken Cheese Bake that is easy to prepare and perfect for a comforting meal. This dish combines tender chicken with creamy cheese and a crunchy topping.

Chicken Cheese Bake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream or sour cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 1 cup (100g) cream of chicken soup (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. You can also marinate them for 30 minutes for extra flavor if you have time.
  3. Cook the Chicken:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and sear the chicken breasts for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. They don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage, as they will finish cooking in the oven.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream (or sour cream), chicken broth, cream of chicken soup (if using), and half of the shredded cheese. Mix well.
  5. Assemble the Bake:

    • In a greased baking dish, place the seared chicken breasts in a single layer. Pour the creamy cheese mixture over the chicken, ensuring they are well coated.
    • Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top.
  6. Prepare the Topping:

    • In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with olive oil or melted butter until they are evenly coated. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the cheese layer.
  7. Bake:

    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C) and the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve:

    • Once done, remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired. Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as rice, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Tips:

  • Vegetable Add-ins: You can add vegetables like broccoli, spinach, or bell peppers to the dish for added nutrition and flavor.
  • Cheese Variations: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as gouda, Monterey Jack, or a cheese blend for a unique flavor.
  • Make Ahead: This dish can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Just bake it when you’re ready to serve.
