Pan-Fried Cod with Lemon Butter Sauce

Here’s a delicious recipe for Pan-Fried Cod with Lemon Butter Sauce that is quick to prepare and bursting with flavor!

Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cod:

    • Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
    • Dredge each fillet in flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Heat the Pan:

    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the cod fillets to the pan.
  3. Cook the Cod:

    • Cook the cod for about 4-5 minutes on one side, or until golden brown. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the cod from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  4. Make the Lemon Butter Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
    • Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest, cooking for an additional minute to combine the flavors.
  5. Serve:

    • Return the cooked cod to the skillet, spooning the lemon butter sauce over the top to coat the fish.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
